The Call of Earth
Orson Scott Card
Excellent Book September 11, 2003 OSC has done it again. This book is truly one of the best book's I have ever read. If you liked Ender's Game then you should like this as well. In a way there are parallels between Ender and Nafai.

Children of the Mind
Orson Scott Card
Not as fast paced as Ender's Game - Still a Great Read October 24, 2002 OSC is one of the best writers in the US today. In fact I will go so far as to say he is second only to Stephen King.

This book is not a stand-alone book, it is a sequal to Ender's Game. I read this book around 1996. I heard about Ender's Shadow a month or two ago and have recently finished the series. I have read all of the Ender and Shadow series and will continue to do so as long as they keep being written.

If you are not familiar with OSC, he is also the author/playright of the Abyss! Ender's Game is planned to be made into a movie by WB and the producer of a Perfect Storm.

This book is about Ender's life off-planet after having saved the world. This book is very philosophical and has less action. It is a not as fast paced as Ender's Game. I would say more about the book, but I hate people giving away any information about books and movies so I won't.

Earthborn
Orson Scott Card
Good September 11, 2003 My only issue with this book is that Shedemai (and the Oversoul) are the only charachters still around from the first book. It also get's into some deep religious overtones. In the end it's a good story though and well worth the read.

Earthfall
Orson Scott Card
Suspenseful! September 11, 2003 I didn't expect so much suspence to be in a book about a long trip to Earth. It's an excellent book and adds great detail in the next generation charachters.

Ender's Game
Orson Scott Card
Best Sci-Fi Book Ever October 24, 2002 OSC is one of the best writers in the US today. In fact I will go so far as to say he is second only to Stephen King.

This book and Ender's Shadow are both great stand-alone peices that he has written. I read Ender's game around 1996.

Read the book now, before you see the movie!

The book is about a young strategic genius that has to save the human race, and the world, from a race of hive-like aliens called the formics or Buggers. It is a very fast paced book, and it's unlikely you'll be able to put it down once you have gotten through the first few chapters. I would say more about the book, but I hate people giving away any information about books and movies so I won't.

The Memory of Earth
Orson Scott Card
One of OSC's best September 11, 2003 A great opener to an excellent series. This series is actually better then the Ender's original series and almost as good as the Shadow series. Some great charachters are introduced in this book and developed throughout the next books.

Sense and Sensibility
Jane Austen
Excellent Book, for it's time September 11, 2003 This book is an excellent way to see how English society ran hundreds of years ago. The only issue that people will have with the book is that it is written in an older style of English which can be hard to follow.

Ships of Earth
Orson Scott Card
Excellent Book September 11, 2003 OSC makes a great transition taking the charachters to the ships of Earth. It really brings out Elemak and Nafai's charachters.

Speaker for the Dead
Orson Scott Card
Not as Fast Paced as Ender's Game - Still a great read October 24, 2002 OSC is one of the best writers in the US today. In fact I will go so far as to say he is second only to Stephen King.

The Time Machine
H. G. Wells
Amazing September 11, 2003 It's amazing how this book has inspired so many future writers and creations. To this day nobody has better described time travel machines then H.G. Wells. I think this should be required reading for students as it's such a visionary piece of literature.

Wolves of Calla
Stephen King
Excellent book, could lose the epilogue December 4, 2003 It was a long time ago that I read the last book in the series. I remember that it was my first year working at MEDITECH, which is where I have worked for over five years. The books before that I read in High School around 1995! So a lot has happened, at least in my life, since I read the first books. I never re-read books, and I mean never. I don't re-read because I always lose some of the suspence from the first time I read it.

Anyway, the charachters in this book are really brought to life, this includes many new characters and then of course the gunslingers themselves. Oy takes a C3PO-like entertainment position in this book. In ways this book tells four stories. One story is about susanna, one story is about a new character called Callahan, one story is about the wolves that the book is named after, and finally the larger story of the journey to the Rose. The way he wrote the book was to mix the four so that you had to keep reading to get to the book's resolution of them. It is deffinetly a page turner.

Without the epilogue the book is easily four smileys. I wasn't to found of the epilogue, mostly because it is about Salem's Lot. I have no interest in Salem's Lot and hope the final books in the series will not go into further depth about his older book. Since this only became blatently noticeable, and thus annoying, in the epilogue I can't hold it against the book.

The War of the Worlds
H. G. Wells
Should be required School Reading! September 11, 2003 An excellent book. It amazes me the foresight H.G. Wells had. He is truly a visionary and I prefer him as the father of sci-fi over Jules Verne.

Xenocide
Orson Scott Card
