The Gold Ceiling: Cover Page
What Better Way to Finish
It’s done! This was similar to my original vision of the cover art and came out better than I expected. The graph is based on data from the World Inequality Report. There is a better graph I remember from the days of the Occupy Movement, but I failed to find it. The gold section of this graph is deceptive because there are so few billionaires it would be unreadable at this scale. Take a look at the World Inequality Report so you can see the original and get an idea of how lopsided the top percentile of wealth holders are which to me validates the need for a wealth cap.
Also, Another Book Review:
Spinning by Tillie Walden - I loved On a Sunbeam and when I read she had written this graphical memoir I felt compelled to read it. While it took about a year to get a copy, it was well worth the read. I’m a super beginner skater, I don’t even own a pair though I probably should. I have a lot of friends that were skaters in their youth so I was curious what it was like. Tillie being gay made it an even more compelling read. I have what I think is a natural assumption that other people tend to think like me, but reading a memoir like this really shows otherwise. I’m fascinated how she kept so much bottled up and continued doing things, like skating, due to inertia. She never even says why she started, which is especially curious since her mother hated paying for it. While there are certainly far more tragic coming out stories, this brought me to tears. It baffles me how family and friends would react that way.
