It’s been horrifying hearing the president tell the military’s top brass they need to start worrying about “the enemy within”. While, when I type this, it appears the president has finally gotten a ceasefire in Gaza, he seems to want to drag us into a forever war with Venezuela. Thus far we seem fortunate that bombing Iran hasn’t started one there.
Who is this enemy within? Apparently it’s enemies who do not exist like antifa and transgenderism. This could enable the administration to arrest people and find the crime afterwards. It is an echo of McCarthyism and the Red Scare.
Timothy Snyder made a video on the topic to consider. In the video he compared the rise of Stalin as Lenin’s health failed to Stephen Miller’s rise. I am not as familiar as I’d like to be with the rise of Stalin. I’ve also been more concerned with Vance taking advantage of the Epstein file and Trump’s health.
As I’ve said before, there is no antifa organization. Antifa was a movement against fascism which means that people against antifa are in part be pro-fascist! At the antifa square table white supremacist Jack Posobiec said antifa traces back one hundred years to the Weimar Republic in Germany. He’s referring to the German government that failed to prevent the rise of history’s most notorious fascist, Adolf Hitler. In other words, they are linking their efforts to those that brought Hitler to power!
What terrorism really exists in this country right now? Could it be the masked agents rappelling from black hawk helicopters onto a 5 floor building? Could it be the troops patrolling blue cities? Could it be the teargas near a school?
While their are transgender communities that exist, they are about mutual aid, not terrorism.
Similarly, there wasn’t a defined organization that led the January 6th insurrection. It’s a dark irony that the person who’s speech led to an insurrection might use the insurrection act to attack Indivisible and Open Society Foundations. Clearly a pardoner of insurrectionists is not actually concerned about insurrections.
It’s good to see Democrats are finally fighting the government via the shutdown. While the healthcare subsidies are important, I think it’s critical we also see ICE reigned in. I was in a meeting with a co-worker who had helicopters flying over their apartment and saw unmarked vehicles driving on the street. Undocumented immigrants are entitled to due process via our constitution. Conditions for detainees are inhumane. ICE shot a white minister who was praying, this isn’t just undocumented immigrants impacted.
