Maryam You seem to imply that he's made his billions all on his own. Don't the 160,000 workers, plus the tens of thousands he laid off, have something to do with that success? AKIRA Many of the employees who were there since the start are millionaires and a few are billionaires. Even new employees get restricted stock options. Those who were let go were underperforming and were part of the reason Nile made less in the preceding quarters. Maryam Will Plant makes 720 times more than the median employee at Nile. How does he justify paying himself so much more than his average employee? AKIRA As I stated before, Mr. Plant created the company. Without him they'd be working elsewhere, making even less, or be unemployed. Maryam Isn't the opposite true? Without the employee's he wouldn't be a billionaire. Doesn't he have more to lose? AKIRA Mr. Plant does have a lot at risk, which is another reason he deserves what he makes. Maryam According to Stanford records, Will Plant was a legacy grant and thus bypassed the traditional application process. His family paid his tuition and gave him money to found Nile. I have been hearing reports that the world has it’s first trillionaire. Let’s put that into perspective. In the 2020-2021 school year all US public schools spent a combined total of $927 billion dollars! That’s includes the money from federal funding, state funding, and local funding combined. This one person’s wealth could fund an entire year of US public education! Meanwhile, this trillionaire doesn’t own a house and thus pays $0 in real estate taxes for even one school district! Further, the Big Beautiful Bill just gave all US billionaires (and our one trillionaire) a tax cut. This is not okay, we need a wealth cap!
